Adventure Time House

Finn & Jake Investigations is a classic adventure game with object-based puzzles and light combat. It was released for all major consoles, handhelds, and on Steam for PC.

As senior level designer, I was the primary designer on multiple levels and provided feedback to other designers across the title.

The approximate development time for the project was one year.


With a massive list of interactable objects, all with sound, visual effects, and voiceover, it was critical to have a complete list as early as possible. To that end, the puzzles had to be well documented, and the needed items identified early. I established a consistent method of diagraming the spaces, and where each object could be found.


Primary Level Responsibility

  • Case 1 – Sweet Sweet Magic
  • Case 3 – Sour Notes
  • Case 5 – Album (Re)Cover

Based on a story sketch provided by the lead designer, the level designers developed map and flow diagrams for each assigned level. A design document for each chapter was developed, including puzzle descriptions and interactions.



Responsibilities:

  • Primary quest design on three chapters
  • Puzzle and item design
  • Build gray levels using 3D Studio
  • Level scripting
  • Item behavior scripting in C#
  • In engine level and art setup
  • Work with artists, engineers, and other designers to develop content as needed.
  • Set up cinematics in-game
  • Implement FX and sound
